Research published on News24 shows that only 34.1% of public schools have computer centres. In a digital-first economy, that’s a critical gap.
Nearly half of South Africa’s working-age population is between the ages of 15 and 34, yet this group continues to face the highest unemployment rates. In fact, the youth unemployment rate has worsened over the past decade, rising from 36.9% in 2015 to 46.1% in 2025, according to Stats SA’s latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey. This trend reflects not only an economic crisis but also an urgent need to improve access to digital education and job readiness tools.
